- No
software installation needed. The software is an executable
file loaded onto a USB flash drive that plugs directly
into your base. (Note that the flash drive is purely
for convenience; you may also download the software
from this site and place it on your hard or network
drive.)
- An
unobtrusive floating menu bar enables you to quickly
poll students without interfering with your lecture.
-
The floating menu bar sits on top of any application
(such as PowerPoint, Adobe, Keynote, Word), Flash,
etc). You don’t have to re-author or import
your lectures into a separate software application.
- Want
to ask questions on the fly? No problem. An “On
the Fly” text box is available right from the
floating menu bar (so you don’t have to quit
your presentation to insert a spontaneous question).
Your screen shot and question data are captured in
i>grader for later review and points assignment.
- Registration
is FREE; students only pay for the hardware and can
register in class or online. Because registration
is free and even optional, your students can register
at any point in the course and all of their voting
responses will be retroactively correlated to their
student ID. You control if and when your students
register and you can use the first day of class. We
also offer our institutional adopters tools and scripts
to host registration on your campus as well as a new
LDAP authentication tool to minize student errors.
- A
Settings/Preferences wizard allows you to establish
preferences for
and igrader before using our system. Options enable
you to set course management system configurations
(we currently support Blackboard, WebCT, ANGEL, and
Moodle), histogram display and timer options, frequencies,
and presentation and participation point rules.
- The
base logs your students’ responses for easy
import into i>grader (the
gradebook). With i>grader, you
can review and edit your questions and sessions, and
assign participation/ attendance and performance points.
Grades are easily imported into other applications
(such as Excel, Blackboard, WebCT, ANGEL, and Moodle).
- The
screen shot function captures your screen every time
you begin polling, making it easy to review your lecture
and the questions you are using after class (within
i>grader).
You can also delete questions and assign points to
your students for their voting activity.
- New
HTML reports have been upgraded! The Term/Session
Summary and Review report provides a
breakdown of polling data, both for your term to date
and for individual sessions and questions (including
the question and histogram). No individual student
scores or votes are included in this report, making
it ideal to share with your class as a post-lecture
study guide. The Student Voting Data report
contains grades for your individual students, by session
and by question. From here you can also access a report
of Cumulative Student Scores, which provides you with
a review of each student’s performance for each
session.
- The
software is open source (and therefore adaptable to
your or your school’s needs) and requires no
site license.
-
We offer both PC and Macintosh Applications. Unlike
competing systems’ software, the Macintosh software
is a true Mac application that is just as robust as
the PC software.
